"I do believe in an everyday sort of magic...the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places, people, works of art and the like; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we're alone." Charles de Lint

Creature Comforts

Our power came back on around 11:00 this morning. Phew! There is nothing like 64 hours of no electricity or heat to put things in perspective and think about all the creature comforts we take for granted. It's also good to know how little we really need....and still do OK. With a little lot of help from Margie of course.

But there's nothing like 7 hours of having the power back to put a little spring in our step. Paul and I kicked into gear to assess the things in the fridge and freezer....which wasn't as bad as we feared.

We salvaged quite a bit....but used this as an opportunity to give it all a good cleaning...throw some things out...and make room for a fresh start.

Before long we'll be back into our routines....

and the everyday calmness of our lives.  Which we love, by the way.

I do think we'll appreciate our creature comforts just a little more...and hopefully not take them for granted.

  1. Yay! I'm so happy for you! I wondered if you put the refrigerated/freezer items in your garage or even in the snow to keep them cold! Your ice pictures are just gorgeous- great job keeping the JOY in your life regardless of circumstances.

    1. Thanks Kathy! Glad to have this behind us...but the photos are beautiful.

We didn't pull stuff out of the freezer because we thought it would be a short time. The longer we went...the more we thought we better just keep it closed. And...it was mostly OK in the end. Good opportunity to clean some old stuff out.

      Have a great day!
