"I do believe in an everyday sort of magic...the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places, people, works of art and the like; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we're alone." Charles de Lint

"Dancing for Joy....

....by the Will of the People."

I continue to am compelled to make a few sunprints almost every day. I have some interesting results from a cloudy day and I even put one out in the rain. But this is my favorite from today.....a sunny...hot and humid day. It may be one of my favorites so far! I quite fond of the simplicity and movement. It's like the slender grass-like images are dancing for joy in the moonlight!

Of course I'm going to call this
Dancing for Joy!
I printed it with my layered paper moon technique and some dried pieces from my Queen Tut plant. Each time I placed the next bigger circle...I added a few more pieces of the plant to give it the layered look.

Next time I'm going to print with this freshly clipped stem! It has a lot of energy.
Paul and I did some errands together today....it doesn't happen very often but errands are always better together! And on our way into town to drop off 200 summer matches at Folly 101 we stopped by to check out an art installation I've been wanting to photograph along Back Bay in Portland. It's called Dancing for Joy by the Will of the People and is dedicated to the freedom to marry who you love. Amen!

The 20 ft tall bamboo egrets were just stunning with the blue sky....the bay...and the views of Portland in the background. It was fun to be up close and personal and walk in and around it. It's quite an amazing structure!

It was created by the "Myth Makers," Donna Dodson and Andy Moerlein. "We're just a joyful couple having a lot of fun making art all the time, and then we travel the world while we do it."
How fun is that!
You can watch a video about the installation of Dancing for Joy here.

Your Dancing for Joy, and the Myth Makers' Dancing for Joy.

I think it's time for me to take a road trip to Portland.

  2. Your sun prints are so pretty! The bamboo egrets are amazing - especially coupled with the message.

    1. Thanks Michelle! I love the message of the egrets too! Freedom to love so we want should never be challenged.
